Chocolate "Minute" Mug Cake

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
4 tablespoons Flour
4 tablespoons Sugar
2 tablespoons Cocoa -- (baking)
1 Egg -- beaten
3 tablespoons Milk
3 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
3 tablespoons Chocolate Chips -- (optional)
1 tablespoon Chopped Nuts -- (optional)
dash Vanilla Extract

Using a large coffee mug, add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) and vanilla, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes on high. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be larmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to share!)

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

I may have to try this with white chocolate chips. I don't much like regular chocolate, but I LOVE white chocolate. And it's not too bad on the carbs either! I can use Splenda to cut down on carbs even further.

Happy Friday and weekend, Lucy! :o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Hi Lucy, I have a recipe like this called Puffed Chocolate Eggs using only the egg whites. It has meringue consistency.
A whole egg has 210 mg of cholesterol and it will be just aso good to use only the egg whites. That is 110 calories per serving with yolk out. You could cut out a couple table spoons of sugar.
My rule 3 egg whites and 1/3 cup of sugar. That is about two tablespoons per egg white.

Yours is richer and would taste better on ice cream. I may try it! Thank you.
I might even pour chocolate syrup over the whole thing.

This mug cake sounds very rich. It would be fun for my great grandkids to do.
I think I like the sound of the Mexican CHicken Corn Chowder too.
It has turned cold here with heavy frost in the mornings so soups and chowders are on the menu!

The girls are gonna love this. They like cake, but hate the process of making one.

Lucy, I made this cake and showed a picture on my Sept. 13, 2008 blog entry called CHANGED FOREVER. It is worth the minor effort it takes and I like the calorie count you got on it a whole lot better than the one I got.

Today we had the Mexican Corn Chowder. It is good and very, very rich.

It certainly sounds easy enough, though if you don't keep these ingredients on hand at all times you would have to get them...lol!

I just took this quiz over at Fred's Blog which asked which I'd prefer--chocolate cake versus chocolate pie. I chose cake. After reading this recipe, I know why.

I did a follow-up post on the comments from you and others. I do see your side, but I would also like you to read my reasoning for my opinion.

I saw this at Granny Annie's blog.
It sounds yummy and looked very yummy over at Ann's place. I have a real weakness for anything chocolate.

I make a version of the chicken corn chowder you posted below. I like the recipe you posted, and it gave me ideas to try in my own recipe. Thanks for posting it!

Have a good week, Lucy.

:-)

I plugged this recipe into http://caloriecount.about.com and it says it's a lot more calories than that. I wonder which one is right?
