With Mothers Day upon us......

WHY GOD MADE MOMS*
(Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions.) Thanks to Richard Sutton for sending me this one.

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Note from Lucy: It's been 24 years since my own mother died at the tender age of 57. I love her very much and still miss her today. She raised four children within 5 years of each other. I was the oldest, Barbara next at exactly 2 years to the date, then Pat 18 months later, and last but not least, my brother Donny, 15 months after Pat.....I always wondered why she was half crazy and after having kids of my own, I know why......I really don't know how she managed us all so close in age. We grew up with very little money but we felt rich with all the love that was shared. I feel very grateful to have had good parents. I wish my mom had been her longer to see her grandkids grow up, hopefully she is watching us all from above. Happy Mothers Day, Mom... (I have to say, that TF's mom is the best! I love her too.)

My Mom's been gone 6 years this week. Hearing that you still miss your Mom after 24 years doesn't surprise me. I suppose that will never go away for either of us.
Have a Happy Mother's Day..

Those are all very funny, not partly because they're probably true. I don't think I've seen them before.

I used to always get my mother a rose and a candy bar for Mother's Day. If I couldn't find a rosebush, I'd find another neighbor's flower to pick.

Love the post Lucy. My mom has been gone for 9 years, and never got to meet my husband or our kids. Fortunately, I have the blessing of knowing that they will meet someday :)

How sad that your mom died at only age 57. That is indeed much sooner than you would have liked. I am certain that you miss her so much, and I am also certain that you will see her again some day.
I hope your Mother's Day is wonderful. You are a blessing to your family.

Those kids lines are so cute. I like the one about the mom having a "dab of mean" in her. That kid spoke the truth about us moms. We sometimes have to show our mean side in order to keep kids in line!!

Happy Mother's Day, Lucy! We all miss our Mom's when they're gone. Mine died nine years ago.

It was nice to meet you Friday. Too bad we couldn't visit, we just didn't get there very early. I will be absent the next two weeks or more.

A VERY VERY HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to you, dear Lucy....! Hope you are having a lovely special day.

Some of these things that 8 year olds are supposed to have said sound like the Writer's Room at a TV sit-com....! LOL! I hope I am wrong...!

Love these answers. I should ask my high school students some of these questions...I think I'd get some pretty interesting answers.

It must have been very difficult to lose your mom at such an early age. My mom is 76 and I treasure every day she's here.

Happy Mother's Day, Lucy.

Diane, You will miss her your whole life....I suppose that is good. Hope you had a good Mothers Day with Jessica, Jason and sweet little Emily.

Greg, I will check you out. Thanks

Putz, your mom must have been the very same age as my mom. I'm glad you have a wonderful wife....

Susie, it is a tribute to your mom to remember her so long. My mom was a good mom too.

Butterfly Girl - Thank you.

Big Dave - you should plant a rose bush just for her, in YOUR yard...lol

Jess - I hope you had a great time with your mom (and dad) today...

Swim mom - I know that I will get to see my mom again but I sure wish she could have seen her grandkids grow up. Hope you had a good day, today.

Jamie Dawn - I think all moms need a little dab of mean to keep the kids on the "straight and narrow" path. I do miss my mom. I love what little children say, they are so cute. Hope you had a great day with you family.

Jim - I wish we had more time to visit on Friday. I was busy getting the room set up for the class and I was a little embarassed that I had not had time to change my clothes and dress up a little better. I wasn't able to stay because TF was home with the grandkids and I needed to get back. Hopefully we will get more time to talk at another class. I am going to try and go over to the church earlier, during the day, and get the room set up so we don't have to rush. It sure was good seeing you.

Yes, we do miss our mom's when they are gone.

Naomi, Thanks for the Mothers Day wish. I did have a wonderful day with the kids.

Nosurfgirl - Thanks, hope you had a good day with the family...

Fred - I wonder what kind of responses you would get from high schoolers...It could be really interesting. You are lucky to have your mom still alive. There must be something in that Florida air. TF's mom and dad still live in Vero and they are both alive. His dad went through double knee surgery last summer but he is doing very good.

Hope you had a good day with the Missus and the girls.

BTW: Can you believe that Obama thinks there are 57 states in the US. I got a real laugh out of that one. Even my 6 yr.old grandson knows the correct number. lol. Maybe you should ask that question, as a bonus question, you your finals.

My Mom is 90 and fading. I know I'll miss her when she's gone.

I can still remember my shock when I found out that my mom was a grownup kid. I just though she'd always been a mom.
