Mary Did You Know
TF posted A Reason For The Season over on his blog earlier today along with a link to a beautiful version of Mary Did You Know. While listening to several other versions of Mary Did You Know, we found one featuring the original lyrist and original music composer together in a performance. Take a few minutes to get out your hankies and enjoy this modern day Christmas Classic. Here are Mark Lowery and Buddy Greene.

Hi Lucy -- A policeman, now retired, in our church sang that song every year at Christmas time, several times. It is one of my favorites!
Mrs. Jim just sold her mom's house a week and a half ago. It was in Alexandria, La. That was hard, but we had moved her earlier from the house Mrs. Jim grew up in.
She died in January, our very good friend (she came to our wedding and treated Mrs. Jim as her daughter--she had no children and hadn't been married) died in February, my dad died in March, Mrs. Jim's uncle died now, and I had my fall. All those things in one year could get a person down.
We were busy those weeks too besides selling the house!
And plan to be the next few also!
Oh yes, our car drinks premium. That hurts some her the last year or so.

I am not familiar with this song, Lucy...It is a BEAUTIFUL Melody and the words are lovely, too! THese two men are so talented...That was a beautiful arrangement, too!

Since I do not celebrate Christmas, I have never heard this song.

Yes it is a beautiful song and one that was inspired I believe. I don't believe many people ever consider Mary's thoughts and her feelings about the incredible task she had been given, and the more incredible task of her baby son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
This is a terrific Christmas song, and I've heard several versions. I think Mark Lowry is such a talented singer. I've also heard it sung by Kenny Rogers who does a nice job too.
The song has such emotion to it, and tenderness at the same time. it's wonderful!!

Haunting melody. I've never heard this song. Sounds like one of those old Gospel melodies.
Lucy--believe it or not, that was the first time I'd ever heard that song! My personal favorite of the "new" Christmas songs (one I think works great for baptisms also) is by Steve Earle-- Nothing But a Child--

LOVE this song!! I got to see Mark sing it a couple of years ago in person. It was sang in our church Sunday before last by one of our choir members. Beautiful!
